Although it is always difficult to lose a pet, you can always help other animals in memory of the deceased pet.
Below are some trusted volunteer organizations that help animals in need to find their forever home. These organizations take animals in their care, pay medical expenses if needed, foster them until the forever home is found.
Established in 2020, Halfway Home K9 Rescue is a Canadian registered not for profit dog rescue with a mission of helping dogs who need help most. This is a 100% foster based rescue committed to finding forever homes for dogs in Ontario. With the network of hardworking volunteers, fosters and other community partners, the Rescue’s goal is to place every dog in their best matched home.
Halfway Home K9 Rescue aims to work ethically with northern community members to support them and their dogs. The northern communities they assist are remote and isolated, and are accessible only by air. They do not receive regular shipments of canine supplies or food. They do not have access to veterinary care for their pets. These remote communities face difficult decisions about the dogs of their community. Halfway Home is here to support them.
The Rescue’s adoption program provides northern community members with the reassurance that their beloved dogs will be placed in permanent, caring homes. The Rescue is their halfway point; they are “halfway home” in their journey to their forever home. Each dog that Halfway Home welcomes to their rescue receives comprehensive veterinary care prior to adoption.
Halfway Home K9 Rescue relies solely on donations to fund their efforts and continue assisting northern remote communities.
